Aim
Bolivian Journal of Scientific Research is a multidisciplinary, open-access scientific journal that does not charge publication fees. It is dedicated to disseminating original research articles, review papers, and scholarly essays that undergo a rigorous peer-review process. Its primary aim is to strengthen scientific knowledge by promoting critical and interdisciplinary analyses of the relationships among science, technology, and society.
The journal encourages the publication of studies addressing the scientific, social, ethical, educational, economic, and cultural dimensions of scientific and technological development. It also supports applied research, responsible innovation, critical thinking, and evidence-based decision-making that contributes to academic advancement and social development.
Scope
Bolivian Journal of Scientific Research adopts a multidisciplinary approach based on the UNESCO classification of fields of knowledge, promoting the publication of original research that integrates perspectives from the sciences, technology, the humanities, and the social sciences.
The journal prioritizes interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research, as well as empirical, theoretical, and applied studies that contribute to the advancement of scientific knowledge, the critical analysis of contemporary challenges, and the strengthening of academic dialogue across disciplines.
The journal welcomes submissions in, but not limited to, the following fields:
- Social and Legal Sciences.
- Engineering and Architecture.
- Natural Sciences.
- Arts and Humanities.
- Health Sciences.
Manuscripts employing quantitative, qualitative, or mixed-methods approaches are considered, provided they meet the journal's standards of scientific rigor, originality, academic relevance, and thematic suitability.
Open Access and No-Fee Policy
Bolivian Journal of Scientific Research follows a full open-access publishing model, ensuring immediate, permanent, and unrestricted access to all published content.
The journal does not charge any fees for manuscript submission, peer review, editorial processing, or publication (Article Processing Charges, APCs), reaffirming its commitment to the democratization of scientific knowledge, academic equity, and the removal of financial barriers for authors and readers.
Publication Frequency
The journal is published on a semiannual basis and maintains a continuous call for submissions throughout the year.
Each annual volume consists of two issues. Issue 1 covers the period from January 1 to June 30, while Issue 2 covers the period from July 1 to December 31 of each year.
Accepted manuscripts are published according to the journal's editorial schedule after successfully completing the peer-review process and all editorial production stages.
Editorial Process and Review Timeline
The entire editorial workflow is managed electronically and follows the principles of transparency, editorial quality, and best publishing practices. The estimated processing times are as follows:
- Initial editorial screening: 6 to 14 days, depending on the manuscript's characteristics and complexity.
- Double-blind external peer review: 20 to 45 days.
- Copyediting, layout preparation, proofreading, and publication: 10 to 20 days.
The editorial team seeks to balance rigorous scientific evaluation with efficient editorial management, ensuring the timely publication of accepted manuscripts while maintaining the highest standards of academic quality.
